Physical Therapist, DPT
James earned his Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology – Exercise Science with a minor in Biology from California State University, Long Beach, and his Doctor of Physiotherapy from The University of Melbourne in Australia in 2018.
James believes in a patient-centered and holistic approach to physical therapy, focusing on the individual rather than solely on the diagnosis. He incorporates patient education, injury prevention, evidence-based practice, individualized strengthening exercises, and manual therapy into his treatment approach. He values his patients’ input and works collaboratively with them to develop treatment plans that address their specific needs, lifestyle, and functional goals.
Throughout his career, James has gained experience treating a wide range of orthopedic and musculoskeletal conditions. He previously worked closely with a Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) specialist in California, managing patients with neck, back, and nerve-related pain. He also has a strong interest in sports rehabilitation and emphasizes individualized strengthening and conditioning to improve mobility, strength, and overall function while helping patients return to the activities they enjoy. James is involved in physical therapy education at HPU as an adjunct instructor and has experience teaching and mentoring future physical therapists.
Outside of the clinic, James enjoys maintaining an active lifestyle. He is an avid outrigger canoe paddler and enjoys hiking, backpacking, running, exercising, and spending time at the beach. He speaks Ilocano, Tagalog, and Spanish.
